The Bowflex BXT216 is the higher-end treadmill over the BXT116 and as such offers a few upgrades in features/specifications compared to the BXT116 including:

·        A wider running deck – 22” wide on the BXT216 compared to 20” wide on the BXT116
·        A more powerful motor – 4.0 CHP motor on the BXT216 compared to 3.75 CHP on the BXT116
·        More workout programs – 11 programs on the BXT216 compared to 9 on the BXT116
·        A larger console screen – 9” screen on the BXT216 compared to 7.5” on the BXT116
·        The addition of integrated speed/incline controls on the side handrails of the BXT216 which the BXT116 does not have
·        A higher user weight capacity of 400 lbs on the BXT216 compared to 375 lbs on the BXT116


Apart from the differences listed above, the rest of the Bowflex BXT116 and BXT216 Treadmill’s features are virtually the same.  Both the BXT116 and BXT216 Treadmills feature a generous 60” long running deck and utilize a ComfortTech deck cushioning system that helps with impact absorption for a more comfortable run.

Both the Bowflex BXT116 and BXT216 Treadmills utilize 2.75” rollers which combine with their powerful motors to ensure smooth and quiet operation throughout their wide range of speed, incline and program ranges.  Both the BXT116 and BXT216 offer a speed range up to 12 mph and a motorized incline range up to 15%.

Although the Bowflex BXT216 Treadmill offers 2 additional workout programs (5k distance and varied intervals) compared to the BXT116, both offer a good variety to keep you motivated and challenged, including fat burn, calorie burn, heart-rate, strength, and interval programs, as well as Manual control and the ability to customize your own workouts.  (See full program variety listed in the comparison tables below.)

In addition to the built-in programs, both the Bowflex BXT116 and BXT216 Treadmills can connect via Bluetooth to the Bowflex JRNY App and other online fitness apps available on your mobile phone or tablet (subscription required for Apps) for a wide range of extra and fun training options.  The JRNY App offers personalized workouts, workouts that automatically adjust as your running improves, real-time coaching and feedback to help you reach your training goals.

Other Apps you can connect to via Bluetooth include Google iFit, Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, and the exciting “Explore the World” App with which you can run virtual trails from around the globe.

Both the Bowflex BXT116 and BXT216 Treadmills come with an innovative Burn Rate console that is intuitive to use with easy “push and go” programs and simple one-touch button adjustments for pre-set speed and incline changes.  There are also quick up/down buttons on the bar in front of you to change the speed and incline and as previously mentioned the BXT216 also has the addition of integrated speed/incline controls in the side handrails.

Although the Bowflex BXT216 has a slightly larger screen than the BXT116, both screens are full color backlit for easy viewing and display a wide range of workout stats to keep you motivated including: time, speed, distance, burn rate (calories burned per minute), heart-rate (beats per minute), heart-rate zone, total calories, sprint display, intervals display, recovery display, fitness score display, incline display, workout segment display, and incline program display.  For heart-rate monitoring as you exercise, both treadmills offer contact pulse grip and telemetry heart-rate monitoring (chest strap included).
