The Bowflex SelectTech ST 552 and ST 1090 Adjustable Dumbbells utilize a unique dial adjustment system to change the weight of the dumbbell, enabling you to quickly and easily switch between exercises to tone and strengthen the whole body.

To change the weight of the dumbbell:

·         Simply place the dumbbell in its cradle and twist the end dials to the desired weight.
·         The brackets inside the handle will automatically attach the correct weight plates to the bar according to your chosen weight.
·         Then you simply lift the dumbbell back out of its cradle and you’re ready to go.

Lifting with the Bowflex ST 552 or ST 1090 is smooth and quiet thanks to their durable molding surrounding metal plates construction.


Weight differences between the Bowflex SelectTech ST 552 versus ST 1090 Adjustable Dumbbells:

The Bowflex SelectTech ST 552 and ST 1090 Adjustable Dumbbells differ in the weight range they offer, with the SelectTech 1090 being suitable for stronger and more advanced weightlifters:

·         The Bowflex ST 552 Dumbbell has 15 settings and can be adjusted from 5 lbs up to 52.5 lbs.  The ST 552 full range of weight settings are:  5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15, 17.5, 20, 22.5, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 52.5 lbs.
·         The Bowflex ST 1090 Dumbbell has 17 settings and can be adjusted from 10 lbs up to 90 lbs.  The ST 1090 full range of weight settings are:  10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 lbs

As you can see from the above, the Bowflex ST 552 has a lower weight range than the ST 1090 and can be adjusted in 2.5 lb increments up to the first 25 lbs and then in 5 lb increments (except the last increment which is 2.5 lbs), whereas the Bowflex ST 1090 has a higher weight range and is only adjustable in 5 lbs increments throughout.

Compatibility with the Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbell Stand
