Although the Schwinn 230 2016 Recumbent Bike does NOT offer Bluetooth connectivity, it does have more on-board workout programs and more resistance levels than the newer 2020 model, so there’s still plenty to keep you challenged.  The 2016 model has 22 built-in programs and 20 resistance levels compared to the 2020’s 13 built-in programs and 16 resistance levels.

Besides the Bluetooth connectivity, the newer Schwinn 230 2020 Recumbent Exercise Bike’s console has been updated with a single large 5.5” LCD screen compared to the 2016’s smaller dual screens (3” x 5” & 1” x 5”).  The older 2016’s console does have a couple of features which are not included in the newer 2020 model including: a USB port, acoustic chambered speakers with MP3 input, and a cooling fan.

Both consoles display standard workout data as you exercise including Time, Speed, Distance, RPM, Calories burned, and Heart-rate.  Data is switchable between Miles or KMs.

To help you stay within your target heart-rate zone, both the Schwinn 230 2020 and 2016 Recumbent Bikes feature Contact Pulse Grip heart-rate sensors built into the handlebars each side of the seat.  The newer 2020 bike also offers Telemetry heart-rate monitoring (chest strap NOT included).

Ergonomically designed, both the Schwinn 230 2020 and 2016 Recumbent Exercise Bikes feature a walk-through frame design to make it easy to mount and dismount from the seat.  The seat is the same on both bikes – large and contoured with supporting backrest and ventilated to help keep you cool as you cycle.  The seat is adjustable for different rider heights on both bikes with Schwinn’s easy-to-adjust Slider Seat Rail System – simply use the Adjust Lever to bring the seat closer/lower towards the pedals or further/higher away from the pedals.

The Sunny Health & Fitness Pro (SF-B901) and Pro II (SF-B1995) Indoor Cycling Bikes allow you to simulate outdoor road cycle training in the comfort and safety of your own home.

The original Sunny Health & Fitness Pro (SF-B901) Indoor Cycle utilizes a chain-drive system for a more authentic road-bike feel while the newer and updated Pro II (SF-B1995) Spin Bike utilizes a more modern belt-drive system for a smoother and quieter workout.

Both the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro and Pro II Indoor Cycles utilize a 40 lb chromed solid flywheel - the heavy flywheel weight ensures smooth and consistent momentum throughout your workout.

Both the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro and Pro II spin bikes also feature micro-adjustable resistance with dual felt-pad and emergency brake, putting you in total control of your workout – you can increase or decrease the intensity of your cycle training with a simple twist of the resistance-knob and push down on the emergency brake to stop safely.

Being the newer and updated model, the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro II (SF-B1995) comes with some extra features that the older Pro (SF-B901) Indoor Cycle does not have including:

·        A digital monitor (battery operated) that tracks your cycling data such as time, speed, distance, RPM, odometer, scan, calories burned and pulse

·        Contact pulse grip sensors in the handlebars to help you stay within your target heart-rate zone as you cycle

·        A device holder to place your mobile phone or tablet to keep entertained as you cycle

·        A handy side-mounted water bottle holder so you can keep hydrated without having to get off the bike

If you look closely at the pictures of the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro and Pro II you’ll also notice that there’s a slight difference in the design of the handlebars between these two spin bikes, with the original Pro’s handlebars being more horizontal in design compared to the newer Pro II’s handlebars being more angled.  The design of the handlebars on both bikes allow for multi-grip positions and the sturdiness of the bikes allows you to pedal while sitting or standing, i.e. you can effectively simulate different cycling postures and road conditions such as flats or hill climbing.

Both the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro and Pro II’s handlebars are height adjustable and the saddle on both indoor cycles is both height adjustable and forward/backward adjustable for a custom fit for different riders.  The saddle on the Pro II is slightly larger than the original Pro (10.5” long x 7.75” wide x 3” deep compared to 10” long x 6” wide x 2.5” deep) and the distance between the seat and handlebars and between the seat and pedals differs between these two spin bikes, allowing for a slightly different reach and inseam length range as follows:

·        Handlebar to seat range:  Pro:  17.5” – 22”  /  Pro II:  16” – 20.5”

·        Inseam length range:  Pro: 30” – 42”  /  Pro II:  28” – 41”

Additional features of both the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro and Pro II Indoor Cycling bikes include: heavy duty frame and crank system; cage pedals (can easily be swapped out for pedals of your own if preferred such as clip-in); adjustable stabilizers for leveling on uneven floors;  and front-mounted transport wheels for easy relocation.

Sturdily and durably constructed, both the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro and Pro II Indoor Cycles allow for a maximum user weight capacity of 275 lbs.

There’s a slight difference in the overall dimensions and bike weight between these two Sunny Health & Fitness spin bikes, with the newer Pro II having a slightly larger footprint overall:

·        Approx. Dimensions/weight:  Pro:  46.5” long x 18” wide x 46” high (97 lbs)  /  Pro II:  49.5” long x 20” wide x 49” high (101 lbs)

Being the newer spin bike, the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro II also comes with a better warranty of 3 year structural frame / 180 days parts & components compared to the 1 year frame / 90 days parts warranty on the original Pro.

The Schwinn A10 is considered to be the entry-level model of the Schwinn upright exercise bike range, while the Schwinn 170 is the high-end model and the Schwinn 130 sits in-between the two.

The Schwinn A10, 130 and 170 Upright Exercise Bikes all utilize a perimeter weighted flywheel with Eddy Current magnetic resistance, ensuring smooth and quiet operation throughout their individual range of programs and resistance levels.

Each exercise bike has a different range of programs and resistance levels on offer, with the Schwinn 170 having the greatest range of 29 programs and 25 resistance levels, while the Schwinn 130 has 22 programs and 20 resistance levels, and the Schwinn A10 having a smaller range of 7 programs and 8 resistance levels.

The consoles differ between each exercise bike, with the Schwinn A10 having a more basic console than the other two.  The Schwinn 130 and 170’s console feature a dual-track display (2 screens) while the A10 only has a single screen.  All the screens are LCD, but the higher-end Schwinn 170’s screen also has the advantage of being blue-backlit which is easier on the eyes.

The Schwinn A10, 130 and 170’s console track and display all the important workout data you need to keep you motivated as you cycle including time, speed, distance, RPM, calories burned and heart-rate.  The Schwinn 170 allows for the most user profiles (4) compared to the Schwinn 130’s 2 user profiles and just 1 on the A10.

Being the high-end exercise bike, the Schwinn 170’s console also has a few other features that the A10 and 130 do not have, including Bluetooth connectivity to transfer workout data to online fitness apps (the Schwinn 130 has a USB port to transfer data but the A10 has no way of doing this) and telemetry heart-rate monitoring for more accurate heart-rate monitoring (although all the bikes do have contact pulse grip heart-rate sensors).

The new Schwinn 170 Exercise Bike is now compatible with the Explore the World App (subscription required) – connect via Bluetooth to the App on your mobile phone/tablet for a wide range of global courses and move at your own pace as the App auto adjusts to your speed.  The Schwinn 130 and A10 do not offer this feature.

Both the Schwinn 170 and 130’s consoles also have a USB charging port and 3-speed cooling fan – features that the Schwinn A10 do not have.  The consoles on all 3 bikes do however feature a sound system with speakers and MP3 input so you can listen to your favorite music and all feature an integrated media shelf to place your mobile phone or tablet so you can keep entertained as you exercise.

The Schwinn A10, 130 and 170 Upright Exercise Bikes are all ergonomically designed to give you a comfortable workout.  The handlebars are angle-adjustable and the saddle is padded for comfort.  The saddles on all 3 bikes are height adjustable to suit different riders but the Schwinn 170’s saddle has the added advantage of also being adjustable fore/aft for a more custom fit.  The Schwinn 170 also has the addition of elbow rests on its handlebars, allowing you to rest your forearms – particularly welcome towards the end of a long ride!

Being the higher-end model, the Schwinn 170 Exercise Bike has a better 3-piece crank system compared to the 1-piece crank of the Schwinn A10 and 130, and also features larger-sized pedals.

Additional features of all 3 bikes in the Schwinn Upright Exercise Bike range include a handy water bottle holder, integrated transport wheels for easy portability, and 2 integrated levelers for added stability on uneven floors.

All the exercise bikes are sturdily built with the Schwinn 130 and 170 allowing for a slightly higher user weight capacity of 300 lbs compared to the A10’s 275 lbs user weight limit.

The entry-level Schwinn A10 has a smaller footprint than the other two exercise bikes (see full specifications compared in the tables below) and its console is battery operated (although you can buy an optional power adaptor) whereas the Schwinn 130 and 170 are both electrically powered and come with a power adaptor included.

As you would expect with the higher-end models, the Schwinn 170 and 130 also come with a better manufacturer’s warranty over the entry-level Schwinn A10 (see full details listed in the comparison tables below).

Let’s take a glance at the main differences and similarities in features between the Schwinn A10 versus Schwinn 130 versus Schwinn 170 to help you decide on which is the best upright exercise bike for you:
