The R618 is the latest addition to the Nautilus recumbent bike range and is the premium edition over the R616 and R614.  The Performance Range Nautilus R618 is designed for higher intensity workouts with a heavier flywheel, suitable for more serious athletes and a higher user weight capacity, and features premium comfort features including a more comfortable seat and better console design.  (See tables below for full features and specifications compared.)

The R616 sits in the middle of the Nautilus recumbent bike range and offers the same amount of programs (29), resistance levels (25), user profiles (4) and Bluetooth connectivity as the R618.  It has a dual track blue-backlit LCD display instead of the R618’s STN dual blue-backlit display.  The STN display of the R618 is the best in the fitness industry, offering a wider viewing angle and better colors that’s easier on the eyes and the R618’s console also tilts to provide the best viewing angle.

The R614 is Nautilus’ entry-level recumbent exercise bike and the lowest priced.  It still has plenty of programs (22) and resistance levels (20) to keep your workouts varied, but not quite as many as the R616 and R618.

The R614's console offers dual-track display like the other 2 bikes but only has a black/grey display instead of blue backlit.

The Nautilus R614 only offers 2 user profiles instead of 4 and doesn’t have Bluetooth connectivity like the R616 and R618 but it does have a USB port which you can use for data transfer instead to online fitness tracking apps.

The seats on all 3 Nautilus recumbent bikes are easy to mount and dismount thanks to the low step-through frame design but the design of the seat itself varies between them, with the Nautilus R618 having the most comfortable seat with a gel seat cushion design.  The R616 has a padded contoured seat base while the R614 has a vented seat base.  All 3 recumbent bikes have a ventilated backrest for support and comfort.

The Nautilus R618, R616 and R614 all feature an adjustable sliding seat rail system that makes it easy to adjust the seat to fit different user heights.  There is a slight difference in the user weight capacity each bike can accommodate, with the R618 allowing for a higher user weight capacity of up to 325 lbs compared to 300 lbs on the R616 and R614.

The Nautilus R618, R616 and R614 recumbent bikes’ consoles are all straightforward and easy to use and display motivating workout stats as you exercise including time, speed, distance, calories and heart rate.  All 3 bikes feature contact pulse grip heart-rate monitoring with sensors located in the handlebars at the side of the seat.  The R618 and R616 are also telemetry-enabled for a wireless chest-strap for more accurate heart-rate monitoring.

The Nautilus R618 also has an extra feature that the other 2 recumbent bikes don’t have and that is In-Reach remote buttons built into the handlebars by the side of the seat which allow for easy changing of the resistance levels without having to go into the console itself.

Additional features on all 3 Nautilus recumbent bikes include a sound system with built-in speakers and MP3 input, USB charging port, media shelf, 3-speed cooling fan and water bottle holder.

Fitness tip:  Just a 30 minute cycle ride could burn between 207-345 calories for women, or 252-420 calories for men, depending on the intensity of the cycling.

Summary:

All 3 Nautilus recumbent exercise bikes have plenty to offer users of all fitness ranges from beginners to advanced levels.

For many people looking for light to moderate exercise in the comfort of their own home, the Nautilus R614 would be more than adequate for their needs with plenty enough programs and resistance levels to keep you motivated.  It still has many of the premium features of the other 2 bikes such as sound system, cooling fan etc. but for a lower price!

If you’re looking for moderate exercise at home and want a bit more comfort with a padded seat and more variety in programs and resistance levels, then opt for the Nautilus R616 recumbent bike.  The R616 is also a good choice over the R614 if there are more than 2 of you in your household who are likely to use the recumbent bike on a regular basis as it allows for 4 user profiles.  If accurate heart-rate monitoring when exercising is important to you, then you’ll also appreciate the telemetry-enabled console on the R616 instead of just the contact pulse-grip on the R614.  The blue backlit display on the R616’s console is also easier to view than the black/grey display of the R614.  If transferring your data to online fitness apps is important to you, then you’ll appreciate the Bluetooth connectivity of the R616 for quick and simple transferring of data over the more time-consuming USB data transfer of the R614.

For more serious athletes, the Nautilus R618 is the best recumbent bike for you.  For the relatively small extra cost, you get a bike designed to withstand intensive use with premium comforts and extra features that make this bike stand out from the rest.  It’s easy to see why the R618 comes under the title of the Nautilus Performance Series!
