Best Air Bikes Compared

Air bikes (also referred to as fan exercise bikes) give a more effective workout than cycling alone thanks to their moving handlebars which adds an upper body workout to give you a total-body low-impact and cardio workout.

Exercise bikes in general support your body weight which means there’s less impact on your joints compared to most other types of exercise, while still providing an effective workout that burns calories and tones the body.

As the name suggests, air bikes operate on an “air resistance” system.  This air resistance system works on the premise that the faster/harder you pedal, the more intensive the resistance becomes, which effectively allows for unlimited resistance levels.

·         Schwinn AD Pro (AD7 / AD8) Airdyne Bike
·         Lifecore Fitness Assault Air Bike
·         Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Bike
·         Schwinn AD2 Airdyne Bike

Each of the air bikes in the above list feature moving handlebars, air resistance, and come with their own fitness monitor that displays various workout stats to keep you motivated.

The build quality, range of programs, heart-rate monitoring and other stats differ between these air bikes, with the top 2 on my list utilizing commercial-grade components making them suitable for more intensive training both at home and in a commercial setting, while the other 2 air bikes are best suited to home use.

As you would expect, prices differ depending on the quality of the air bike.  The fact that Schwinn has 3 different air bikes that have made it to my list of best air bikes reflects the continuing high-quality and durability of their exercise equipment.

Let’s take a look in more detail at each of the air bikes on my list of Best Air Bikes and see how they compare:
