Comparing ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainer Pro versus ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainer, What's the Difference?

Uniquely designed, the ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainer Pro and Cardio HIIT Trainer are a cross between a stair stepper and an elliptical trainer and offer a much more effective and intensive workout compared to a standard elliptical.

The ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainer Pro and Cardio HIIT Trainer have a smaller footprint than an elliptical trainer so take up less space and feature a higher vertical climbing path to work more leg/lower body muscles in combination with moving handlebars that work your arms/upper body.

Both the ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainer Pro and Cardio HIIT Trainer feature oversized cushioned foot pedals with a 10” vertical climbing path and 5” horizontal elliptical path, while the moving handlebars feature multi-position grips to work more upper body muscles.

Both Cardio HIIT Trainers utilize a silent magnetic resistance system (SMR) which provides smooth and quiet operation.

The ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainer Pro is the premium machine over the ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainer and utilizes a heavier inertia-enhanced flywheel (30 lbs compared to 28 lbs), more resistance levels (26 compared to 24) and more preset workout programs (34 compared to 32).

The ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainer Pro also comes with a better console that has a 10” full-color HD Smart touch-screen display while the standard Cardio HIIT Trainer console features a 7” blue-backlit LED display.  Both consoles display motivating workout stats as you exercise including time, speed, distance, intensity, calories burned and heart-rate.

To help you stay within your target heart-rate zone, the ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainers both feature EKG pulse grip heart-rate monitors but the Pro version also includes a Bluetooth Smart chest strap.

Preset workouts included on the Cardio HIIT Trainers include programs for calorie goals, intensity, speed and incline.  The consoles on both machines are also Bluetooth Smart and iFit compatible (subscription required) so you can access a wealth of additional workout programs online as well as Google Maps training routes from around the world.

Additional features included on both the ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainer Pro and standard ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainer include audio system (dual speakers with MP3/iPod compatibility), CoolAire workout cooling fan, tablet holder, and water bottle holder.

The Pro version is the heavier machine overall, but both Cardio HIIT Trainers are sturdily constructed with a commercial-grade steel frame and support a user weight capacity of up to 350 lbs.  Both machines come with oversized leveling feet for added stability and front-mounted transport wheels for easy relocation.

Both machines come with a manufacturer’s warranty for peace of mind (note the difference in warranty and other specifications in the tables below).

Summary:

The ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainer Pro and Cardio HIIT Trainer are designed for the more serious cross-training athlete looking for High Intensity Interval Training.  These machines give a much more vigorous workout than a standard elliptical trainer and you’ll feel the burn especially in your legs as the vertical path is much higher than a traditional elliptical machine.

Despite the highly effective intensive workouts offered by the Cardio HIIT trainers, they are still low-impact which means that they are easier on your joints compared to many other types of exercise especially HIIT.

Both machines are sturdily constructed with the Pro offering a couple more programs and resistance levels than the standard Cardio HIIT Trainer.  The Pro also has a slightly heavier flywheel (2 lbs heavier) and generally speaking the heavier the flywheel in an exercise machine is, the more smooth and consistent the momentum will be.  The Pro also has the better console screen, being larger and with a full-color display.  Both machines support a maximum user weight capacity of 350 lbs but the Pro is a heavier machine overall, giving more stability for the heavier user.

Having said that, the standard ProForm Cardio HIIT Trainer is still a good machine and would be more than adequate for most people’s needs and like the Pro it is iFit compatible for additional workouts if that’s important to you and it still has all the other bells and whistles of the Pro like the cooling fan and audio system but for less money!
